Creating a useful business listing

What to include so a stranger can decide to contact you in under a minute.

Draft guide from the UniteOZ team, not yet reviewed by a named author.

  1. Use your real trading name

Match the name on your signage and website exactly. Different spellings across the web make you harder to find.

  2. Pick the most specific category

Choose the job you want to be found for, such as electrician or bookkeeper, rather than a broad word like services.

  3. Add a phone number you answer

A number that goes unanswered costs more enquiries than having none. Add hours so people know when to call.

  4. Describe what you do in plain words

Two or three sentences: what you do, who for, and where. Skip slogans.

  5. Keep it current

Check your hours and contact details when anything changes, and at least once a year.
